The Homemade Greenhouse

Photobucket

If you've been reading my blog, you know that I posted about a week ago about a really simple idea for a homemade greenhouse. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can go see it here. Brett and I took the simplest route possible - no holes drilled or anything. We just used one of the small containers we had in the basement and set the lid on top. No seriously, it was that easy. It's off center slightly for appropriate air flow, but my seedlings seem to love their new environment!

As you can see, my brilliant husband labeled everything so we actually know what seeds are what.... we made the mistake of not doing that last year. Oops.

In just a week, some of them are sprouting and looking healthy!

And just where will these cute little seedlings be going when they are ready? Our garden box, of course! Right now we have broccoli, swiss chard, spinach, garlic, and onions in there. Those were all raised at a local farm and were seeded for growth in temperatures of 40 degrees or higher. They are very hearty and are about 5 times the size that they were when we bought them!

Shop Feature: Chic Baby Rose

Photobucket

So incredibly unique! That was the first thought that went through my head when I saw these a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e. Petti Rompers by Chic Baby Rose. They are cute enough to give me baby fever just so I can buy one and oogle at it for hours. The coolest part about these Petti Rompers is that they are versatile! You can even tuck them down to use as bloomers. They would be absolutely perfect for newborn photos, as the precious baby above demonstrates. They are adorable on a toddler girl as well!!

Photobucket

I mean, seriously... Have you ever seen something so cute?

And not only does she have those adorable outfits, she also makes pettiskirts and hair accessories as well. And yes, I do realize that everything that I've posted about is either red or pink, but what can I say? They are precious!

Does a wood marker really work?

Photobucket

Have you ever been shopping for picture frames? If you have, you know how expensive they are. I recently bought frames for my kid's bathroom and bedrooms. I've had artwork from Farmhouse Five for months, waiting to be framed. They are beautiful and were very reasonably priced... however, decent frames (for all 10 prints) are not so reasonably priced. Finally, I decided to bite the bullet and just buy them. So, off to Michael's I went to find some frames, wallet heavy in hand.

Now, let me just say that I have a really hard time passing up a bargain. So when I spotted nice frames on clearance for $1.49, I about jumped out of my pants. As I walked closer I noticed that they were all damaged! DRATS! But wait, what if I could fix them??? So off I marched to the marker section to find a wood marker. I was very skeptical, but I'm pleased with the results! So what did I do?

Photobucket

Materials:

Wood Finish Stain Marker in the closest match to your grain as possible
Paper Towel
Frames

Photobucket

Steps:

1) Remove marker from package and shake well.

2) Hold tip of marker to a piece of cardboard in order to coax the stain into the tip (about five seconds or so). Be sure to use a piece of cardboard or something thick so it won't leak onto your work surface.

3) Gently dab marker onto the damaged section of wood.

4) Use paper towel to dab any excess stain from wood.

5) Repeat steps 3 & 4 if necessary.

6) Air dry.

7) Enjoy your art!!

Mini Photo Shoot Today

Photobucket

I don't know if I should really classify this as a photo shoot since I did it and I'm no where near a professional, but I did it anyway. I made my daughter a pillowcase top/tunic to wear over jeans (or shorts/bloomers). I decided to put it on her today and try to get a few pictures of what it looks like as a top. I'm really pleased with the result. I wish I had cool photo editing software to make them look amazing, but they'll do for now! Ava is such a HAM. LOL!

Weekend Project

This weekend, Brett (otherwise known as my dear husband) and I are going to build a mini greenhouse. I'm so excited about it!!! We have some seeds that are {trying} to sprout downstairs in our basement, by the window. But we think they'll fair better outside than they will in a basement, so we have a project.. A cheap project for those on a budget. Yes that's right, my friends, this greenhouse will be blissfully simple and easy on the wallet.

So do you want to know how to do this easy as pie project? Just click on the picture.

I'll post pictures when ours is all finished!

Brand new creations!

I have been one busy momma! I'm not even close to being done with my work yet { does that ever happen? } but I had to show you some previews of things to come.

Photobucket
I can't believe it's taken me sooo long to finally complete a nursing cover for my shop, but I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Now I just need to decide what fabric to use next in order to list it in my shop. The fabric I made the following one in is discontinued, but was a custom request. I used up most of it making an order, but had to show you anyway!

Photobucket
I also created this dress for an old friend of mine. Her daughter is seven, so I'm nervous that she won't like it, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. I spent hours looking for the perfect fabric, only to finally find it in my stash. I hope she loves it! I really think the bow makes the dress!

Such a Beautiful Picture!!

Someone just posted this photo on my facebook fan page (which you should join, by the way) and I had to share it here. I've just started considering getting professional pictures for my shop and this really helps my decision. Of course, with this picture, people may want the adorable bundle of baby more than they want the dress. She's a little too cute for words, don't you think? But the dress is a nice backdrop at any rate.

Photobucket

Just scroll a little and look to the right for a link to join the fan page. It'll be fun, I swear! ;)

One Fish, Two Fish, Look at This Treasury List!

I think this is the most "fun" treasury I've been in so far. Such a cute theme! Dr. Seuss is just awesome and I'm honored to be among his fans. :D

Most Exciting Office Product EVER!!

I had NO idea these were available and I'm practically quaking with excitement. How does a girl CHOOSE which ones to get? Because any good designer who works with Amy Butler MUST have Amy Butler office supplies. I'm seriously giddy here. This is ridiculous. I'm 27 years old and I'm giddy about file folders - yes you read that correctly!!!!

Well, time to drool.....
